What I Did Today
So, 175 pounds down and I have some serious back pain. Apparently 6 different car accidents, weighing 425 pounds, and years of improper lifting have wrecked my back. Losing the weight helped a lot, don't get me wrong. But it was hard to diagnose what was wrong with my back through all the fat.
I've got grinding in my facet joint area, (T4, T5, T6) which causes me constant pain. The folks at Inland Pain Medicine were able to determine what was going on and used a fluoroscope today to inject cortisol into my joints to give me more long-term relief without oral medication.
Here's hoping it works... it was uncomfortable but not unpleasant, as my doc and his assistant were pretty cool and we joked through the whole procedure. I was put at ease fairly quickly and they even let me watch... and take some pictures. I should've asked if they'd take a pic of the procedure itself, but I was nervous and didn't know what to expect.
It was a good experience. Hopefully it'll be one I'll only need to repeat every 4 months or so. In 2 weeks I can start being more assertive with my exercise and strengthen my back without being in constant pain.

Project 365 #329: 251109 Pretty It Ain't...
For the second time this week I've been out of work early! Heaven forfend! This time it was for a clinical appointment, following on from #299.
I had a visit to the podiatry clinic based at the Royal. It does lots of good work (and some bloody awful work) and the people who work there seem to love it or hate it. One thing is for sure...it's one fugly building.
The podiatrist knew his stuff, and had a diagnosis inside of two minutes (which was a classic "I think I know what it is. Does this hurt? You screamed, yeah, I've got it nailed.")
I have tight calves (I'm not sure that's a compliment), so his recommendations are:
